    • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
    • 1½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2½ cups (325g) all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • For the Coating:
    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • 1½ tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
    • Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  2. Chill the Dough:
    • Wrap the dough in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor and texture.
  3. Preheat and Coat:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix cinnamon and sugar for the coating in a small bowl.
  4. Shape and Roll:
    • Form 1-inch dough balls and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  5. Bake:
    • Place dough balls on a baking sheet, leaving space between them. Bake for 8–10 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
